SUCCESS COMES IN MANY FORMS.

PAWS IN PRISON - SAVING MORE THAN DOGS!

Paws in Prison educates female inmates for greater responsibility and empathy through the rescue and training of shelter dogs to be adopted by the public. The women who participate in the Paws in Prison program are given an opportunity to earn certifications that could benefit them for job opportunities after prison release.

These are some of the specific stories of inmates who saved dogs. Or dogs who saved inmates. Who saved who?

"My sweet boy was the beneficiary of such a program. He was transformed from a stray with little hope of adoption into the perfect companion. I owe that entirely to inmates who taught him how to be a good canine citizen. Prison programs like that at the Lockhart Correctional Facility save dogs’ lives and benefit the participating inmates in innumerable ways, including compassion for other living creatures and lessons on unconditional love (which many of these participants have never had in their lives)."
